Electronics Design Engineer
Area: Wellington, Somerset
Hybrid- Two days home working
Salary up to £60,000

This company produces bespoke systems for big names like Rolls Royce and BAE systems!
The team enjoys working on new designs regularly with short-mid project lengths and incorporating lots of different types of technologies. You’ll have the chance to learn/develop and be closely involved with all stages of product development, from concept to delivery.
You’ll be joining an established team of 4 other electronics engineers; you will get training and upskilled if needed! They are a friendly bunch who are very passionate about making top-quality products and working with correct engineering processes. You will have good opportunities to progress as they continue to grow and add to their already impressive client base.
Key Skills:
- Electronic Systems for measurement of voltage, current, resistance and impedance
- Micro-electronics – Interfacing with PC and peripherals for the control of systems and measurement of units under test
- Research and development of new measurement techniques and technology
- High voltage cable harness testing systems using established building blocks
- System and ergonomic design and layout to ensure customer requirements are met
- System test and qualification
Essential skills, knowledge and experience
- 3 to 4 years’ experience of electronics design/development in a relevant industry
- Bachelor’s degree in a Science or Engineering discipline (or a demonstrated experience working at this level)
- Microcontroller design and integration with analogue measurement devices
- Schematic Capture and PCB design using CAD tools
- Analogue circuit design, including interfacing with DACs and ADCs, filtering and signal conditioning
- Ethernet – knowledge of Layer 2 protocols and low-level interfaces.
- Firmware development (Embedded ‘C’ programming for microcontrollers)
- Ability to manage projects and multi-disciplinary development teams
- Generation of test and qualification specifications, conducting the tests defined
Desirable skills, knowledge and experience
- Masters level degree in a Science or Engineering discipline
- Kelvin and LCR measurement techniques
- FPGA and SoC design using VHDL (Altera device families preferred but not essential)
- High Voltage DC and AC design
- Design for EMC and EMC qualification testing/documentation
- Product qualification and certification – CE marking and compliance testing
- Programme Management skills and discipline
- Generation of requirement specifications from customer problem description
- Mechanical design using 2D and/or 3D CAD (AutoSketch)
