Yield & Integration Manager
Job Specification:
Role overview:
Responsible for leading and developing a team of engineers to drive process integration, yield improvement, and technology development in a semiconductor manufacturing environment. Works closely with process, device, quality, and operations teams to ensure robust, repeatable, and high-yielding manufacturing processes, while maintaining compliance with environmental and safety regulations.
Key responsibilities:

Work with process, device, and quality teams to design, develop, and qualify new production technologies in line with the technology roadmap

Lead and develop a team of engineers responsible for process integration and yield improvement initiatives for new and existing technologies
-
Drive process integration activities and ensure gate stage reviews are completed on schedule

Provide timely feedback on engineering trials and production data to design, development, and production teams
-
Track and report line and die yield performance across all production technologies
-
Develop and maintain yield paretos to proactively target improvement opportunities
-
Lead cross-functional teams to drive yield improvement activities and minimize scrap
-
Collaborate with quality, production, and engineering teams to identify and contain process excursions
-
Develop, monitor, and maintain departmental Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) aligned with internal and external customer needs
-
Promote a safe working environment and culture by ensuring EH&S standards and procedures are adhered to and continuously improved
-
Provide effective people management through coaching, mentoring, and development planning to retain key personnel
-
Prepare operating budgets and maintain engineering capability to support manufacturing while focusing on cost control and lean principles

Perform off-site audits of waste contractors’ facilities and maintain waste stream mapping
-
Control and report site pollution and waste transfer notes
-
Maintain and update the significant aspect register to ensure compliance with ISO 14001
-
Act as internal lead auditor for regular ISO 14001 and OHSAS 45001 audits
-
Create reports to monitor compliance with environmental agency operating permits
-
Monitor CO2 emissions and monthly water and energy usage
-
Review safety data sheets and ensure COSHH requirements are included in chemical risk assessments
-
Assist department managers in investigating incidents and accidents
-
Develop and implement improvement plans for site waste and effluent treatment processes
-
Complete environmental returns and other EHS compliance requirements
-
Liaise with the facilities control room and report non-compliance events to the Environment Agency
-
Engage with the Health & Safety Executive, Environment Agency, and other government bodies as required
Required skills & experience:
-
Experience in a semiconductor manufacturing environment
-
+2 years management experience
-
Process know-how across multiple areas of semiconductor manufacturing
-
Evidence of project management or leadership in a high-level business context
-
Understanding of development or production within a quality environment
-
SPC implementation experience
-
Experience with DOE and FMEA application
-
Experience establishing and controlling departmental budgets
-
Evidence of change control implementation at an influential level
-
Experience with II-V device technologies preferred, particularly related to II-VI requirements
Desirable experience:

Exposure to cross-functional team leadership in high-tech manufacturing
-
Experience in environmental compliance and EHS reporting
-
Familiarity with ISO 14001 and OHSAS 45001 auditing
Tools & methods:

Statistical process control (SPC) tools

Design of Experiments (DOE) and Failure Mode & Effects Analysis (FMEA)

Change control and quality management systems

Environmental, Health & Safety compliance tools and reporting systems

Location: Newcastle upon Tyne
Salary: £85,000 + benefits
