Company Overview:

 We are a growing SME specialising in highly efficient electric powertrains, drives, machines, and inverters for traction applications.

Due to new projects and continued expansion, there is a space for an inspired and motivated Electrical Lab Technician to join our research and development team in Bicester. You’ll play a crucial role in the research, development, and testing of bespoke applications for a range of automotive customers. Your day-to-day will include collaborating with other engineers, conducting experiments, troubleshooting electrical systems, and ensuring the functionality of electric motors and inverters in a lab setting.

 Role Overview:

  • Test Rig Operation: Manage electric motor and inverter test setups.
  • Procedure Support: Collaborate on test procedure development with Engineers.
  • Equipment Maintenance: Maintain mechanical, electrical, and instrumentation tools and facilities.
  • Custom PCB Assembly: Order and assemble custom PCBs, perform electrical and mechanical tasks.
  • Rig Assembly/Disassembly: Assemble and disassemble test rigs for evaluation.
  • Wiring Harness Expertise: Construct LV/HV cable harnesses with crimping and shielding.
  • Component Handling: Assemble/disassemble electrical motors, inverters, and cooling systems.
  • Documentation Creation: Develop standardized engineering reports and documentation.

 Key Responsibilities

  • Test Setup Expertise: Practical experience with dynamometers and electric motors.
  • Electrical Diagram Literacy: Proficient in reading electrical wiring diagrams.
  • Technical Competence: Skills in wiring, cabling, crimping, soldering, and low-pressure plumbing.
  • PCB Testing and Soldering: Experience with electrical bias, including PCB testing and soldering.
  • Tool Proficiency: Use of PCB probing tools like oscilloscope and multimeter.

  • Communication and Teamwork: Strong communication skills and a collaborative mindset.

Salary: up to £45,000 depending on experience.
